Vote On Dutch Casino’s Online Launch Delayed
A vote in the Dutch Parliament on whether to grant the nation’s gambling monopoly permission to launch online gambling operations has been put on hold.
The vote on whether to allow Holland Casino authority to expand online was delayed in the Senate at the request of Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin after it became clear that a majority of Dutch Senators would have voted against the plan.
Turnkey provider Cryptologic has been working with Holland Casino to revitalise its online ambitions but the determination of the European Commission to ensure European Union member states respect the principles of fair and non-discriminatory trade and services between member nations may be at the root of the Dutch politician’s reluctance.
The Commission has been insistent that European Union nations comply with the trading bloc's principles and has already warned ten nations against State monopolised gambling activities.
