Oh I do like to bet beside the seaside
Holiday makers and residents in Norfolk are set to take advantage of a brand new casino being built by the seaside.
The Great Yarmouth Palace Casino opens this week and is expected to attract around 75,000 punters a year.
At a cost of £3.5 million, the casino has been developed next to the Palace Bingo centre and has created around 70 new jobs for locals.
From this week gambling fans will be able to choose from three casinos in the town, but a fourth could soon be added if plans are approved.
Pleasure Beach boss Albert Jones has submitted plans for a £35 million casino and leisure complex, which will be called The Edge.
However, entrepreneur Patrick Duffy, who developed the Great Yarmouth Palace Casino, is not worried that Mr Jones will beat him to the town's large casino licence.
Mr Duffy told EDP 24: "I have already shown I can deliver, investing nearly £1 million in the town for every year I have been in business."
Indeed he has already drawn up plans for a large casino with a 75-bedroom hotel including five five-star suites, a conference centre and shopping and leisure facilities.
