Online casino FullTiltPoker.com announced that 5,291 players battled it out during the seventh instalment of its Online Poker Series last week.
The main event ended with a prize pool worth $2.64 million, well in excess of the guaranteed two million dollars, and saw 738 players finishing in the money along with six-figure payments for the top five survivors.
The event had a $535 buy-in and saw online player ‘Reverse’ start the final with a two to one chip count over his nearest rival. This advantage was too much to overcome and he prevailed in a heads-up battle with Thomas Wahlroos to take home a winner's cheque for $456,401.66 while second place collected $276,454.75.
Similar big money take-homes flowed from Event 17 in the Series, a no-limit hold 'em contest with a $2,620 buy-in running for two days. An entry field of 849 participants including top players such as Darrel Dicken, Gavin Smith, JJ Liu, Eric Froehlich and teenage whizz Michael ‘Timex’ McDonald generated a prize-pool of $2.12 million with the first player to fall collecting a cheque for over $36,000. Online contestants 'Csimmsux' and 'Abu-Bilal' fought it out for the top prize of $488,175 but it was the former who prevailed, leaving second place with a prize of $307,762.50.
