Hollywood casino 'too popular'
After only two weeks in business, bosses at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course said that they may need to install more slot machines after the mecca proved more popular than they had predicted. According to the Patriot News, over the first two Saturdays the casino was open, people have been waiting in queues to play the slots, park and order food and drink.
Over the first 13 days in business, slots at the casino generated around $308 on average on a daily business, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
It's "a good problem to have", John Finamore, senior vice president of regional operations at Penn National Gaming, said at the fourth annual Pennsylvania Gaming Congress.
However, he warned that it might quickly become "a bad problem" that needed to be addressed. "We don't want to be too euphoric after two weeks," he said. "But we are certainly looking at all of these issues. We're still learning our trends."
Currently the casino has 2,020 slot machines, but it has the capacity for 3,000.
