Daily Mail 'to pay £4M to Adelson'
Sheldon Adelson and Las Vegas Sands are to be paid £4 million in compensation by the Daily Mail, it has been reported.
Adelson and his company launched a lawsuit against the national newspaper for making allegations about his links to Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer in 2005, according to Brand Republic.
"The Daily Mail's article was a wholly unwarranted attack on me and our business. It was based on a lie," the billionaire remarked.
"It was determined that the Daily Mail should be held accountable [and] I am delighted that we have been fully vindicated."
Adelson, who was recently revealed by Forbes magazine to be worth $26 billion (£13.1 billion), stated that he had never even met Glazer, let alone conspired with him in secret meetings in order to purchase the UK's richest football club.
The Mail decided to withdraw its defence of the allegations and has issued a public apology.
