Norway Poker Championships Move To UK
This year’s Norwegian Poker Championships is being held in the UK following the ambiguous stance of authorities in the Scandinavian nation towards the game.
The event is to be held at the Nottingham’s Dusk Til Dawn venue from April 28 to May 5 after recent police raids alongside moves by Norwegian authorities to class the game of poker as illegal.
Norwegian players are some of the respected in the world for their skill and now more than 500 are expected to make their way to the UK thanks to efforts by the event’s sponsors, Malta-based online casino and sportsbook Expekt.com. Top players such as Annette Obrestad and Johnny Lodden are expected to attend and a documentary is being filmed throughout the Championships with the final table at the main event being filmed for possible later broadcast.
Organisers stated that the Championships is being planned around ten feature events each with buy-ins from around $198 to $990 including No-Limit and Fixed-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha competitions alongside several re-buy and second chance offers.
