PokerStars.com In The Lead

According to the latest figures from information portal PokerScout.com, Isle of Man-based independent online poker site PokerStars.com still has a commanding lead over its nearest rivals for April.

PokerScout.com revealed that the site owned by Rational Enterprises is currently seeing 14,923 cash players with a daily peak of 22,505 concurrent online and a seven-day average of 15,400.

Claiming second spot is Ireland’s FullTiltPoker.com with 8,236 cash players, a daily peak of 9,732 concurrent players and a weekly average of 7,000. The Kahnawake-licensed site is closely followed by Playtech's iPoker Network for third and PartyPoker.com in fourth. Fifth slot is occupied by the Ongame Network while sixth is up-and-coming EverestPoker.com, which has overtaken the Swedish Government’s monopoly Svenske Spel in seventh. Boss Media's International Poker Network is eighth ahead of the troubled UltimateBet.com while CakePoker.com rounds out the top ten.

The figures show that AbsolutePoker.com, which is still feeling the effects of its insider cheating scandal, is in eleventh place followed by BodogLife.com in twelfth. Those behind include the Microgaming Poker Network in 13th, PacificPoker.com in 14th and the recently re-branded Entraction Network in 15th.

PokerScout.com also stated that the most popular game variation in recent months was Texas Hold'em with Hold’em variations in total capturing 90.9 percent of all online action. The second most popular game was Omaha at 5.4 percent followed by Omaha Hi-Lo at 3.4 percent and stud poker with 1.1 percent.
