Philippines Casino Expansion
According to a report in the Manila Standard newspaper, Waterfront Philippines Incorporated has announced its intention to construct a 2,500-room hotel and casino facility in the Asian nation in co-operation with an unnamed Macao-based operator.
Run by businessman William Gatchalian, Waterfront Philippines wants to build the $25.3 million Grand Waterfront Hotel and Casino on 40 hectares of reclaimed land in the Bagong Nayong Philipino-Manila Bay Integrated Tourism City.
Gatchalian’s company operates four hotels in the Philippines including the Manila Pavilion, Waterfront Cebu City, Waterfront Airport and Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao and told the newspaper that he is in talks with State-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation regarding the possible lease of 5,000 square metres of land within the entertainment and tourism complex near Manila. In addition, he stated that Waterfront had recently acquired majority control of the Grand Boulevard and Pan Pacific Hotel, both of which have casino operations.
