When Playing Your Trump Card Again And Again Does Not Work!
There can be few characters in the gambling industry that can attract quite as much controversy and appreciation than the infamous Donald Trump. He was recently in the news after threatening the Atlantic City authorities with court action if they went ahead with tougher anti-smoking regulations, despite the fact that he pushed for a smoking ban some years ago!
After his company, Trump Entertainment, reported a loss for the first quarter of the year amid increased promotional costs and reduced footfall at their casinos it seems that the company may be up for sale yet again. Those who follow the life and time of Mr Trump will be aware that unofficially the company was up for sale earlier in the year then it was pulled after a lack of interest with Trump promising substantial backing for expansion. It now seems that the company may well be up for sale yet again, at a time when casino profits seem to be under pressure.
It will be intriguing to see if any interested parties come back to the table and how the “discussions” with the Atlantic City authorities progress with regard to the proposed smoking ban.
Has Donald Trump played his Trump card too soon?
